Let's go shoppin'
Each morning I wake up and check the usual news sources. CNN, Globe, Cycling News, Velonews, Cerro Gordo County Jail Population. I want to keep up on the happenings around me.
I woke up today with an excitement that only a 11 year old boy has, waking up on Christmas day, expecting that Santa had brought Laser Tag.
IT'S CRANKSGIVING BABY.

So, on my usual news hunt, my mind was understandably in other places. But, in my foggy condition, I did come across a few news stories of famous people opening new businesses. I was amazed by the wide range of opportunities now available from some of my heros - and how much I can't wait to visit some of these places.
Being the good little stimulator that I am, I encourage all of you to visit these places of business and support them and the economy:
Burbank, CA - Rock Duo, Milli Vanilli opens a 3000 square foot recording studio. "Original Vibes" opened on November 2nd to great fan fair - the current waiting list for studio time is at two weeks. Artists wanting to book time, need to contact the studio immediately.
Little Rock, AR - Former President Bill Clinton has opened a luxury cigar shop for the smoking aficionado. "Finger Licking Smokes" is tailored for the discerning cigar customer who expect only the best. The stores highlight is the walk in humidor that is a scale replica of the Oval Office. Products available include domestic as well as imported cigars, and interesting smoking outfits.
Las Vegas, NV - Mike Tyson, former Heavyweight Champion, has opened a BBQ shack on the strip. "Tastes Like Chicken" is not your usual BBQ joint. There isn't a menu to choose from, and all dishes are served horderves style, with waiters dressed in boxing shorts, and Everlast gloves walking around with serving trays. Each food item is cut into cute little triangle shaped cutlets, and your job is guess what type of meat you are eating. Pork, Beef, Chicken, fish… You get the idea.
Vienna Austria - Former TdF King of Mountains champion Bernhard Kohl has announced he plans to open the largest bike shop in Vienna. "Fitstore 24 - Bikepalast Kohl" will open in February, and carry a wide range of cycling products. Kohl has said that he plans on working at the store 12 hours a day. When asked how he expects to keep his stamina up, while putting in such long days, Kohl answered "Oh, I got that one in the bag - wink wink".

Men of genius do not excel in any profession because they labor in it, but they labor in it because they excel.

His priority did not seem to be to teach them what he knew, but rather to impress upon them that nothing, not even... knowledge, was foolproof.

Howard Hughes was able to afford the luxury of madness, like a man who not only thinks he is Napoleon but hires an army to prove it.

It pays to be obvious, especially if you have a reputation for subtlety.

You have to recognize when the right place and the right time fuse and take advantage of that opportunity. There are plenty of opportunities out there. You can't sit back and wait.

Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Do something. If it doesn't work, do something else. No idea is too crazy.

I wrote myself a check for ten million dollars for acting services rendered and dated it Thanksgiving 1995. I put it in my wallet and it deteriorated. And then, just before Thanksgiving 1995, I found out I was going to make ten million dollars for Dumb & Dumber. I put that check in the casket with my father because it was our dream together.
