And I'm Spent.
Cranksgiving 2009 is in the books. What an event. 53 people on bikes, riding through our fair city picking up items for a food bank. Hanging around Lorado's well after the ride, I got to hear all kinds of stories from the riders out on the road.
Amazing cashiers at the stores, people losing their pickup manifests, and only one crash.
Not only did the cyclists pick up enough food to pack my Jeep Commander full to the ceiling, but between the Lorado's chili sales, cash, and check donations - we will be giving the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank another $714 on top of the food donations. What a day.
Thank you again to all who helped put this together, Lorado's for hosting the event, all our sponsors for their amazing door prizes, Jerry Ayers for the use of the P.A. and to mother nature for helping us out with some favorable weather.
I will be putting together some lists of the awards winners, photos of the event, and a video of the day.
I got a lot of requests to hold a "Toys for tots" ride in December, so I am sure we can get something like that in the works. Thanks again for all your help, and check back for updates from the day.
Please post a comment about your favorite moment during Cranksgiving.

I thoroughly enjoyed Cranksgiving as a whole, and the most rewarding part for me was my time passing out award and prizes. The view from the front of Lorado's was great; many smiling faces of people who were clearly enjoying the event, and the company of those around them. From where I was standing, I could see that the event succeeded not only in gathering a huge amount of food and money for the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank, but also in bringing a very diverse group of cycling enthusiasts together to enjoy the day together. That kind of common friendship is the best part of being a cyclist, and I'm grateful to have been a part of Cranksgiving. Everyone who attended should be very proud of themselves; I look forward to the next time we can all do it again.

My favorite Cranksgiving moment (although the entire thing was a blast) was seeing all that food in the Jeep....how awesome was that!?!

My favorite part was riding with old and new friends. Great to see such a big group of bikers on a cool November day!! Can't wait for the next NIBU event!

I had a great time and thank you for putting this wonderful event on! One thought on the toy for tots , last year the nispin did a Yule Ride that brought some great generosity from many. Would love to build on this event and have a few ideas how we can join forces.
